With tens of thousands of users and over 70 shaping machines world wide, the Aku Shaper (formerly APS3000) surfboard design software is the standard computer aided surfboard design software. The design program has been designed purely from a shapers perspective, as though he was in his room shaping. Our goal has been to capture the "character/style" of the shaper... Not just copy an original surfboard numerically. Aku Shaper Software is very user friendly. You do not have to be too computer literate to use this program or operate the machine.
The machine version of the Aku Shaper software is designed specifically to machine boards on machines built by Mike Rickard (bio).
The Aku Shaper Software is the simplest program available that enables the shaper to design and shape better surfboards than he could actually Hand Shape. We know its a big call, but we've seen it happen a lot.
The software runs on every major operating system (Windows, MAC OS X, GNU Linux, etc) and the version to make cutting files comes with purchase of the machine. Updates available through the web or through Java Web Start.
The full design version of the software is freely available so everybody can create board files which can be machined on the existing APS3000 machines and all Aku Shaper machines.
The Aku Shaper machine and software purchase package also includes the Controller Software which displays the tool path as well as the surfboard position on the machine.
