In the realm of Italian surfboard shaping, traditional craftsmanship has always been a staple of Italian culture. This cultural traditionalism has been passed onto the surfboard manufacturers of Italy and remains deep in their roots. In a groundbreaking partnership between AkuShaper and esteemed Italian shaper Fabio Giacomini, the two shaping companies have partnered to develop new techniques and revolutionize the Italian surfboard shapers community by blending traditional hand shaping techniques with the precision of AkuShaper's surfboard design software.

Fabio Giacomini, known for his dedication to handcrafted surfboards since 1980, embraces innovation while preserving the essence of Italian craftsmanship. With a focus on scientific precision, Fabio introduces four new courses, including advanced options, through HSA Surfboard Course, offering discounts in partnership with AkuShaper.

“This partnership represents more than just a merging of tools and techniques; it signifies a commitment to excellence and a desire to push the boundaries of surfboard hand shaping.” - Fabio Giacomini

By harnessing technology, leaving in the past traditional empirical methods, Fabio and AkuShaper aim to elevate the quality, performance, and sustainability of any surfboard produced. “In the old days, we had to reference board shaping notes that would often get lost or damaged. Our goal is to help shapers replicate perfect hand shapes and discover new techniques by working with traditional hand shaping practices, blended with the micro-precision features of the AkuShaper software” - Fabio Giacomini

Italian shapers and surf enthusiasts are invited to join this conversation called “Why Shape by Hand with Scientific Method” (Perché modellare a mano con metodo scientifico) and explore opportunities to engage with this collaboration.  Whether through shaping workshops, events, or community initiatives, there's a place for everyone to contribute to the future of surfboard hand shaping.

Discover how you can be part of this exciting journey by connecting with us, exploring shaping courses, or scheduling a demo to experience the fusion of tradition and innovation firsthand. Together, let's ride the wave of progress to form a new hand shapers generation starting from Italy ,a country where craftsmanship is a cultural matter . AkuShaper training Appointments available in both the United States and Italy.
